Black Sabbath And Murgh Banoo Kebab

Ayswarya Murthy

No one would associate the serious interiors of Geoffrey’s with the head-banging, heavy metal crowd it attracts. The dark, seductive tones are more James Bond and less Jimi Hendrix. Yet, it is among its kitschy collection of knick-knacks and the sophisticated black leather that Chennai’s underground metal scene comes alive. And now famished metal heads have more reason to celebrate – the pub has come out with a new menu that has been carefully handcrafted with innovative and exciting flavours.

Dishes like Thilapal with mango ginger, Hariyali Shammi Tikki, Geoffrey’s Signature Chicken Steak, Cottage Cheesecake and Broccoli Basilico Penne are among some of thenew additions in the menu that is available between 4:00 pm and 11:00 pm from today onwards.

Asif Ahmed, a college student and member of the heavy metal band Anthramorphia, a loyal patron of the pub, says, “Being a complete metal music lover, I am mostly hanging out at Geoffrey's (where ‘Unseen Underground’ happens). I love to sit under their neon lights nursing a large neat scotch or gulping down a shot of rum with some Sprite before jumping into the mosh pit. Geoffrey's has a smoking room as well as an air conditioned room andalso a huge open space parking lot (which I prefer) for those who'd love to chill under the night sky.”

Other signature offerings from the menu include Beef Stroganoff, which consists of onion and peppers cooked along with beef served with ring of buttered rice and steamed vegetables, Mushroom Fevillettee (baked mushroom mille fille stuffed with mushroom cooked in cream sauce) and Foccacia served with roasted bell pepper, sun dried tomatoes, grilled zucchini and eggplant on a bed of basil pesto greens. The Broccoli Basilico Penne with its aglio olio style preparation with its fresh tomatoes and back olives is a promising dish.

The Death by Chocolate provides a satisfying end to a great experience.
